Today is Father’s Day. A day to love and cherish half of what brought you into this world. The one who has loved you unconditionally because you are part of them, literally.
My father passed away when I was eight and my brother was ten. He has been gone for 13 years as of this year. I was moved to the other side of the country from my home (Michigan) when I was thirteen so, I cannot visit his grave today. Although I would love to be able to sit and talk with him today at his grave, it is impossible. So, in order for me to celebrate his life, his fatherhood, and his children, my brother and I have made his favorite breakfast. We are sitting down to eat as I type this.
I just wanted everyone to know, you are lucky to have your father. No matter what is going on right now. If you are mad at him, he is mad at you, he doesn’t like your boyfriend/girlfriend, your parents are divorcing. None of that matters when it comes to loving him UNCONDITIONALLY the way he loves you. Cherish him while you have him here. You don’t know what you have until it’s gone and the day it’s gone, there is no turning back.
So love your father today. Spend quality time with him. Give him a hug.
I’m not as fortunate.
Happy Father’s Day and new memories <3 Raychel
